I don’t know how many Doctor Who fans there are among you. I’m not a real fan, my sister can keep that accolade, but I could not resist some fun distraction today from Google. If you haven’t already had a go, it’s a really good time waster for a Friday evening… head on over to enjoy the fun 🙂
After I posted my first time on Facebook, I beat my own time and did it in 11:42, mainly because I kept pressing on the wrong square on one of the levels. (Yes, if only… haha.) If you feel like forgetting about the past week and just heading straight over to the weekend, I’m wholeheartedly recommending this doodle! Happy weekend everyone! Take care.. ❤
I don’t know whether you feel there is a lot to celebrate with regard to women’s standing in society where you are. In recent news, it has become all too apparent that in terms of equal rights, women do not enjoy the same status as other women all over the world, let alone the same status as men. Incidentally, let us also not forget the men. To my understanding, feminism is not about treading men underfoot, far from it.
Here are a couple of articles that caught my eye in today’s news videos that just go to show how important it is, that we don’t work separately but together, towards resolving all the issues we face:
I hope you don’t think I’m sharing these links flippantly, they are actually some issues I care about immensely that I do not wish to write about on the blog at the moment. Despite the effectiveness with which many people tackle deep and difficult issues online, it’s not something I can devote time and energy to doing properly right now.
Are you celebrating International Women’s Day? In the UK, it is followed directly by Mothering Sunday. Recently, I asked my mum to tell me a potted history of her life. I’ve listened, enchanted, to many stories over the years but this was the first time she told me some of the details and in one sitting. I have to say I am in even more admiration of her than I was before. She is a much more courageous woman than I have ever realised. I guess that I have been blessed with some very humble, inspiring and generous women in my life who have won out in spite of their circumstances. Who are (or have been) the important women in your life?
Weather Forecast London
I have the news on right now. Emily Maitlis just handed over to the weatherman with the words “honestly, it looks revolting”. Nuff said. Hope you have some inner sunshine reserves for the weekend, even if it’s horrible, rainy, cloudy and cold outside.
I love the London Tube map with its continuous evolution based on the original by Harry Beck and many Londoners do feel strongly about it. Not that long ago, when they tried removing the river image there was outrage. What a relief therefore, that Google has done a pretty good job of it!
The doodle only appeared on the UK search page but there is now an archived version on the doodles site!
Thank you for your friendly, sparkly presence around this is lemonade this year. As we approach the end of 2012, I’d like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas. I hope that it will be a peaceful time for you and your loved ones in the midst of all the events that have been happening around the world this year, and all the changes that will bring new challenges in the new year. Thank you for the good times that you have brought to my year and let’s raise a bubbly glass to 2013.
I finally made an effort on Saturday and hung up some merry lights, they will stay up until spring now! For those of you who believe you deserve a present from Santa, here’s a little glimpse of his progress (click through to see the actual status)… it appears some of you already know whether you have been good girls and boys – enjoy your presents 😉
Take care and don’t stuff yourself with too much turkey. Enjoy the Queen’s first 3D Christmas message tomorrow. I do think her 3D glasses look a quite spiffy… what say you?
I’ve been away for about a week. (Apologies again for being a bit sketchy with reading your posts. I miss them!) When I woke one morning in this other-worldly place, I met a creature I’d never seen before. It sat motionless on the window pane and did not fly away for ages. In fact, I didn’t go out until just before lunch and it was still there as I left.
When I’m back, I’ll fix up the photo and see if I can identify it on Google. But for now, here’s a silhouette… I’d not normally enjoy staring at such things, but this is one fascinating insect. Is anybody out there familiar with this fancy dress creature?
Just a quick post for your entertainment…if you like Google’s Easter eggs, then this is one of the most fun or annoying interactions with the search engine yet….have you tried it? Just go to Google and type in zerg rush as the search term…then enjoy…Do you know anyone who works for Google? I’ve always thought it sounds like one of the most amazing places to work, if you’re a properly paid up tech geek.
Below is a screen shot of my first attempt. I think it will be my last – I don’t really fancy getting RSI. You’ve been warned!
Happy May Bank Holiday to my UK readers and anyone else having a Monday off…don’t spend it all indoors clicking! If you do have the misfortune of needing to, trust Wikipedia to have a document on Google fun throughout the ages 🙂 Have a lovely weekend!
